For U2 fans, Chicago's Soldier Field was the place to be this weekend. The rock group kicked off the North American leg of the long awaited "360 Tour" with back to back shows on Saturday (9/12) and Sunday (9/13).

Optimizing sight lines and stirring the imagination, the group performed on a round stage under rigging that resembled a huge futuristic spider, no doubt adding to the epic quality of the concert atmosphere. Fifteen cities in the US and Canada are scheduled to host the Irish lads through the end of next month. This leg of the tour goes out in style with a final show Oct. 30 at Madison Square Garden, where U2 will perform as part of the 25th anniversary of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

LiveDaily photographer Lyle A. Waisman attended both shows at Soldier Field in Chicago, and here are some of his best shots.
