Them Crooked Vultures Gallery Spotlight: Austin, TX - Oct. 1, 2009

Mixing it up may be the new status quo, but of all the supergroups to hit the scene this year, Them Crooked Vultures were perhaps the most eagerly awaited. In fact, they were already growing an extensive fan base via Twitter before their publicist had sent out a single press release.

The band is made up of Josh Homme ( Queens of the Stone Age ) on vocals and guitar, Dave Grohl ( Foo Fighters ) on drums and John Paul Jones ( Led Zeppelin ) on bass. Last night (10/1), they kicked off their first outing, dubbed the Deserve the Future Tour, at Stubb's BBQ in Austin, TX.

Tonight (10/2) Them Crooked Vultures will perform at the Austin City Limits Festival before heading to cities mainly in the eastern US throughout October. LiveDaily photographer Tim Mosenfelder attended the show at Stubb's last night, and here are some of his best shots.
