Blind Pilot wheels out late-year headlining dates

Indie-folk act Blind Pilot continues its exhausting tour schedule into the final months of 2009, with the band still supporting its debut album from last year, "3 Rounds and a Sound."

The Portland, OR, duo of Israel Nebecker and Ryan Dobrowski--supplemented on the road by four additional touring members--continues its current trek tonight (11/5) in Nashville. The band, which toured earlier this year in support of Counting Crows and The Decemberists on separate outings before launching its current headlining trek, wraps things up with two shows in its hometown starting Dec. 4. Dates are below.

The acoustic-minded outfit gathered attention last year when it toured entirely on bicycle to support its 2008 debut, "3 Rounds and a Sound," traveling from Portland to San Diego, CA, on two wheels. It was the second such tour for the group; a previous effort was derailed when the duo's bikes were stolen in San Francisco.

"Ironically, the harder you worked, the more fun you had, as long as it's good work for a good reason," Nebeker said in the band's bio. "When you just sit all day in a van, that's not as much fun." With the group expanded to six members, recent tours have been conducted by van, the group said.

When they're not on wheels, the group continues to work on material for a sophomore album. "One of the things I'm most excited about recording the next album is to see how different we can make it," Nebeker added. "The sound that we have going is working really well right now, but I’m totally excited to mess it up."
