Alt-rock artist Rachael Yamagata [ tickets ] will spend March and part of April bringing her latest album, "Elephants ... Teeth Sinking Into Heart," to audiences across the US.

The singer/songwriter will kick off the outing with an R.E.M. tribute concert at New York City's Carnegie Hall March 11 before delving into a tour that takes her along the East Coast and through the Midwest to the West Coast. The four-week jaunt finishes up with a two-night stand April 9-10 back in New York City with fellow musician Dan Wilson. Details are below.

Yamagata, who got her musical start fronting Chicago funk-fusion outfit Bumpus in the late 1990s before launching her solo career in 2001, will make an appearance on CBS's The Early Show March 14 in support of her double-disc sophomore effort which hit shelves last October. Produced in part by multi-instrumentalist/producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley) along with John Alagia, producer of Yamagata's 2004 full-length debut "Happenstance," the two-part album showcases the singer's cynical and vulnerable sides simultaneously.

The new album features guest vocals from Ray LaMontagne and Azure Ray member Maria Taylor and is garnering further attention from television appearances, including the recent use of "Don't" in the ABC primetime drama Private Practice.
