The worst thing about supergroups is that they're never as much fun on record as they are on paper. Add EMI's 40th-anniversary edition of David Bowie 's "Space Oddity" to the short list of albums significantly enhanced by a bonus disc. New mixes, stereo versions, radio broadcasts and demos combine to limn Bowie's early work with producer Tony Visconti--an alternate version of "Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud" with just Bowie on voice and guitar and Paul Buckmaster on cello, and a nine-and-a-half minute version of "Memory of a Free Festival" being the highlights.  / Read more
